Big Bad Wolf by Paul Roden and Valerie Lueth

Much of the complexity, nuance and fine details in a print are often lost when looking at them on the Internet and, as such, it is difficult to evaluate the print’s quality. Still, sometimes, when looking at an internet image, one can see and feel that a particular prints holds much promise in terms of ‘wowing’ the recipient upon arrival. Such is my feeling for Big Bad Wolf, a woodcut print by Paul Roden and Valerie Lueth. “It is printed from 2 woodblocks (one is jigsawed) with a red rainbow gradient from top to bottom. After drawing our original designs on birch plywood, we hand-carve the blocks. We print the finished woodblocks through a press onto paper in our living room printshop.” You can see one of the two woodblocks below and here you can see their woodblocks for some of their other impressive prints.
